The Gyrotonic® Method

The Gyrotonic method is a movement method that addresses the entire person by opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion, and improving strength and movement efficiency. With Gyrotonic exercises, each movement flows into the next, allowing the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jarring or compression. These carefully crafted sequences create balance, efficiency, strength and flexibility.

The Gyrotonic method utilizes specialized equipment to guide, assist and challenge the exerciser. Gyrotonic exercises help individuals improve their body's overall performance and flexibility, and recover more quickly and fully post injury. People from all backgrounds and stages of life take Gyrotonic classes, including fitness enthusiasts, senior citizens, accomplished dancers and athletes and people recovering from an injury or living with a disability. The Gyrotonic method is practiced in group or private classes under the instruction of a qualified Gyrotonic Trainer.

The human body is designed to work as a harmonious whole, following arcing and spiralling movements, and transitioning smoothly from one movement to another. Juliu Horvath, the creator, designed specialized, highly adjustable equipment around these natural movement patterns, so it can be customised to fit individuals’ bodies.

The Gyrokinesis® Method

The Gyrokinesis method is a movement exercise system that focuses on the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. It coordinates movement, breathing and ability to concentrate. The Gyrokinesis method, unlike Gyrotonic exercises, is practiced on a mat and chair without equipment, so participants are more dependent on their own proprioception while following movement sequences.

GYROKINESIS® classes are adaptable to anyone's physical abilities. People from all backgrounds and at all stages of life take Gyrokinesis classes, including accomplished athletes, fitness enthusiasts, senior citizens and people recovering from an injury or dealing with a disability. A Gyrokinesis session brings an individual's body into balance, reawakening the whole system, and stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, to result in a sense of wellbeing, serenity and clarity. Sessions are usually conducted one-on-one and last approximately one hour, and group classes are also an option.
